Battle of Bach Dang
Battle Tactics
The Vietnamese leader that devised the plan to defeat the Chinese Army was Ngo Quyen. Ngo Quyen knew that his best chance to destroy a much larger Chinese Army was to surprise attack them. Ngo Guyen ordered his soldiers to plant stakes into the Bach Dang River Bed. His idea was that at high tide the stakes would be hidden under the water. The Chinese ships would crash into the stakes and be impaled making it so the Chinese Soldiers would be stuck on their ships and unable to enter the Vietnamese lands. Once the ships became impaled the Vietnamese Soldiers would be able to easily kill off the Chinese Army. A key part to the plan was that the Vietnamese needed to lure in the Chinese Ships into the Bach Dang River. The Vietnamese did this by sending out small ships into the View of the Chinese fleets. The Chinese fleets took the bait and entered the Bach Dang River. Ngo Quyens plan worked resulting in a Vietnamese Victory in just one day.
